Can a person get both COVID-19 and seasonal flu? The answer is already yes. This was presented to Dnevnik by Professor Radka Argirova, a clinical virologist at Acibadem City Clinic Tokuda Hospital. Until now, such cases have not been known.
“Today and on November 11th and 12th, the Tokuda Virology Laboratory isolated three people who combined flu A and COVID, and influenza B and COVID. This was done with multiple PCR tests that simultaneously detect influenza. Oh, type B flu. And COVID, I already got the flu because I only isolated type B flu, apart from others.
Therefore, seasonal flu is already circulating across the country and the method of infection is the same as the coronavirus. It is transmitted by air routes. It is too early to say how the disease progresses when a person is infected with the flu and coronavirus. Professor Argirova added that the positive samples were from those who were tested at will. They were in a satisfactory general condition.
Argirova also explained that it is unpredictable whether or not a flu pandemic this year. It usually occurs in late January and early February. Given the measures imposed on combating the coronavirus, cases are likely to decline this winter season.
