Fatal crashes are associated with the specified driver service.



(Update: 11:55 a.m.) – Despite previous reports, the car that caused a fatal crash on Highway 97 (Hwy 97) in Western Kelowna was not a taxi.

It was a passenger car operated by a local designated driver service.

Police are continuing efforts to identify drivers who have died in a crash and to inform relatives of the victims.

There was one passenger left in the hospital in a serious condition in the vehicle.

Cpl. Jesse O 'Donaghey says the investigation is in its infancy.

If you have witnessed an accident at the intersection of Hwy 97 and Bartley Road and have not yet talked to the police, you should call RCMP Central Okanagan Traffic Services (250-491-5354).

(Update: 7:55 a.m.) – Hwy 97 has been fully resumed in Western Kelowna.

It closed at about 2 pm after a fatal crash between the semi and the taxi.

(Update: 7 am) – Kelowna RCMP said Hwy 97 proved that the accident in West Kelowna was fatal this morning.

It happened just before 2 am and the first first aid class arrived at the scene to find a car that was severely damaged after crashing in the back.

According to KelownaNow readers, the police detachment said the passenger car was a taxi when the emergency crew asked to be on the scene.

"Sadly, the Hyundai Tucson White driver has been declared dead at the scene," Cpl said. Jesse Ordo you.

"The lone passenger was seriously injured and rushed to the hospital from the field by BC Emergency Health Services."

The quasi driver stayed on the scene and worked with the police.

RCMP Central Okanagan Traffic Services (COTS) has taken the lead in ongoing research.

"At present, one of our priorities is to establish the identity of the deceased and inform his relatives," said Odoni.

Hwy 97 remains closed to the south and the police have not yet talked to the police to call the RCMP COTS at 250-491-5354 to anyone who saw the crash.

(Update: 6:45 a.m.) – Drivew said Hwy 97 is opening northwards.

However, between Daimler Drive and Bartley Road, it is closed to the south.

No time is expected to extend south of the highway.

There is a detour through Ross Road.

(Original: 6:25 a.m.) – The morning commute to Hwy 97 in Kelowna in the west will be a bit more confusing than usual.

Highway 97 is closed in both directions between Daimler Drive and Bartley Road, and there is no time for the road to be expected to resume.

DriveBC said the closure was due to a "car accident".

You can use the detour via Ross Road, but it will be crowded when more drivers arrive on Friday morning work.
