The state prosecutor in Mexico has indicted him for murdering Bruce Allen's death in Canada.
According to a press release from the Yucatan state prosecutor, the suspect attacked a Canadian citizen with a knife in an apartment in a small beach town. Progresso.
Judicial authorities have decided to imprison an anonymous suspect during the investigation, the prosecution said.
Last Friday, Allen (age 70) at the University of Dartmouth was found in his partner Progreso's apartment several times on his neck and chest.
The suspect is a Mexican citizen.
Allen and his partner were vacationing in a city near Merida in the Yucatan Peninsula since November.
A federal police officer in Mexico is investigating.
