PNB Fraud: ED arrested Mehul Choksi, Hong Kong office chief

Kolkata has arrested Mehul Choksi, a director of a decapitated company, on the 13th of the Punjab National Bank (PNB) fraud case in Pakistan.

"We arrested Deepak Krishna Rao Kulkarni at Kolkata Airport based on the Look Out Circular (LOC), which was submitted late Monday," a senior researcher told IANS.

Kulkarni, from Hong Kong, was detained at the airport by officials of Kolkata and took Kolkata to office.

They will require a transfer of Kulkarni as the PNB fraud case is registered in Mumbai.

Kulkarni was the supervisor of one of Hong Kong's Gitanjali group owners. He was also indicted on the bill filed against Choshi, and a warrant against him was issued against him.

Choksi and Nirav Modi are under investigation by the Central Bureau of Investigation and ED. The ED filed a money laundering suit against them and others on February 15 based on the FIR registered by the CBI.

The ED filed a bill for these two on May 24 and May 26.

Interpol issued the Red Corner Notice (RCN) for Nirav Modi, his relatives and colleagues.

The RCN request for Choshi, who acquired citizenship of Antigua in early 2018, is pending with Interpol.
