A scientist from the county of Cavan County has suggested a new way to cure cancer.
According to Shane Cronin's research, activating the immune system with Serotonin, the happy hormone in the body, can effectively fight the disease.
The scientist at the Institute of Molecular Biotechnology at the Austrian Academy of Sciences (IMBA) has published a groundbreaking paper on a new way to activate the immune system in Nature.
Cronin from Ballyjamesduff says activating the immune system means that the body can penetrate cancer cells and pathogens and defend the body.
"What we actually showed in the paper is that by increasing and increasing the amount of BH4, t cells can be more aggressively fighting cancer more aggressively.
"This is clinically important because we have developed a new drug for BH4, actually it has already been used for a completely different purpose."
