(Chungcheong Medicines News) Domestic researchers have developed nano muscle fiber technology that grows like a muscle in one direction.

Professor Kim Geun-hyeong Sungkyunkwan University

Professor Kim Geun-hyeong of Sungkyunkwan University and graduate student team of Yumiji upgraded the electrofluidic process to control the direction of muscle cell growth.

Bio-inks have been developed by adding biodegradable hydrogel materials with excellent processability.

I added an electric field here and realized a fiber bundle that grows in one direction with a fine pattern.

Cellular fiber bundle diameter is only 70 to 100 탆.

The initial cell survival rate of the nanofiber is over 90%, the researchers said.

This means that we have overcome the problem of cell death in existing electrofluidic processes.

In addition, cell activity such as cell sorting and differentiation was three times better than 3D cell printing process.

Professor Kim Geun-hyeong said, "This is the first case where nanofibers containing cells are arranged using an electrofluidic process." We expect to contribute to the regeneration of the human skeleton and heart muscle tissue. "

The research was supported by the Ministry of Science and Technology, Ministry of Information and Communication, and the Korea Research Foundation Basic Research Project.

The paper on the achievements was published on the Small cover of the International Journal of Materials Science.
