Petaling Jaya: Prime Minister Tun Mahathir Mohamad (Drawing) Asked President Uno President Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi to dissolve the party.
Bersatu said he did so because Umno no longer represents the original principles and struggles.
"Honestly, Umno no longer exists, it's just a registered party, and that principle and struggle no longer exists," he said in a video uploaded on the Facebook page.
"What is the purpose of all member states to remain in the party that has left the struggle? It is only a party that focuses on money, and cash is the king, which is why Umno "He said.
Dr. Mahathir said that if a Umno member wants to join another party, including Bersatu, "the cash that made Umno, who was previously invincible, hated all Malaysians should be removed."
"Previously, Umno was never lost. They lost their way because of corruption because of leaders who focused on money and cash rather than (true) struggles.
Mahathir also said that Bersatu is not a "cash king" party and will not accept anyone who thinks joining a political party would give them an "opportunity."
"We fight for religion, race and the nation," he said.
Dr. Mahathir said that anyone who wants to join Bersatu should show that he is not tied to Umno.
"They must uphold all good deeds done by Bersatu and we will accept them when we feel comfortable with their actions.
"They can not join a big group because they intend to take control of Bersatu," he said.
At a meeting with former Prime Minister Mahathir, the "message" that Umno members should join the Bersatu aboard was "loud and clear", he said at the annual meeting of the MIC General Assembly.
President Umno also claimed he was charged with corruption because of his refusal to "jump ship".
