Organic recipes produced in Italy are available in all countries except Germany, and Ferero
The controversy about the quality difference of Nutella is firstly the result of different recipes and consumer traditions and tastes of production.
Mari-Pauli Benasi, director of the Judicial and Consumer Protection Commission at the European Commission, told a roundtable discussion on consumer rights in Zagreb.
Over the past few years, various studies from some Member States have shown that there is a difference in the composition and characteristics of the same brand, mainly between the markets of Eastern and "old" Member States. According to the commission, Tportal says that the results of various methods of sample collection, testing and interpretation data are incomparable.
"We talked with Ferrera, the owner of the Nutella product, so they explained that they have two recipes. Official recipe in Italy is available in all countries except Germany. "She responded to Nutella's case when asked about the problem of dual quality products in the European market.
"Ferero has been trying to provide Italian recipes to all consumers through prescription changes, and in Italy, the original Italian recipes will be available as well as in France and other member countries," Benassi added.
Benassi also pointed out that there is no clear definition of the quality of the European Union and that it depends on the tradition and taste of people. She pointed out that there is a broad legislative framework in the European Union that protects the rights of consumers, although the emphasis is on consumer's most important rights.
